Our partner from Oulu had the opportunity to present the READi for Health project at the Smart City Seminar back in May, as part of a session on the future of broadband in Finland.
As a forerunner Smart City, the City of Oulu has been able to use its competitive advantage to develop new innovations, businesses and services for the benefit of the whole society. Oulu’s citizens have been playing a central role in this development work.
The innovative approach and capability to react fast to these changes will secure Oulu’s role as one of the premier global technology cities of the future. The city has the long tradition of co-operation between education and research institutes, companies, public sector as well as enthusiastic and innovative individuals. In fact, where other cities talk about the Public-Private-Partnerships (PPP), Oulu prefers to use the term Public-Private-People-Partnerships (PPPP).
The objective of the seminar was to promote Smart City development by:
• inspiring audiences through the ideas of keynote speakers
• sharing best practices and lessons learnt
• participating in workshops on current opportunities and challenges
• networking and promoting cross-disciplinary discussions
• developing better Smart City initiatives
